Geclanjo Beagles

Introduction

I grew up on a dairy farm in Lancashire. When I left school I moved to Buxton, Derbyshire to work with horses, mainly teaching in riding schools. My husband Geoff and I, acquired our first beagle Benny, through Beagle Welfare in 1985. He was by Ch. & Am Ch Graaddtres Hot Pursuit of Rossut X Dicarl Gay's the Word of Araki and was bred by Tom & Kath Dempster of Crickhollow Beagles, who also lived in Buxton.

We bought our second beagle Boris from Tom & Kath, he was by Ch. Dialynne Nimrod of Ramlacim X Tragband Hot Gossip about Crickhollow. They encouraged me to show him, so my first show was with the Northern & Midland Counties Beagle Club, which was held in Euxton, Lancashire in 1990. Unfortunately Boris died at 18 months from Leukaemia. Even though we still had Benny and two German Shepherds, it wasn't until 1998 after the children were a little older that we went back to Tom & Kath looking for a bitch to show and eventually breed from. Four months later we bought Cassie, Crickhollow Sweet Talk, by Ch. Crickhollow Talk of the Town X Crickhollow Saffron. We had fun and some success showing her at local shows, and my daughter Annie enjoyed junior handling with her.

In 2002 I was asked to join the committee of Northern & Midland Counties Beagle Club, which I greatly appreciated. In 2003 I approached David Bradley & Liz Calikes of the Newlin kennels with the view to buying a tan & white bitch, which I had grown to like, and along came Isabel, Newlin Nectarine, by Ch. Fallowfield Douglas X Ch. Newlin Bright Future Charm. I showed her with some success, her most memorable being Best Puppy in Show at the Beagle Association open show in 2004. In 2005 she had her first litter of seven pups by Susquatch Leo Tolstoy (imp/Denmark) From that litter I kept Sky, Geclanjo Gypsy. Also in 2005 Cassie had her last litter from which I kept Blue, Geclanjo Hot Gossip, by IR. Ch. Kenzed Weaver of Bondlea J.W. They are my latest showgirls.

In 2006 I decided to try my hand at judging and went on a few breed clubs "C" list. My first appointment was in September at Couldson C.S. I am also an area officer for Beagle Welfare Scheme for Derbyshire, helping to re-home and advise on beagle related topics.

I like my beagles well socialised and all of my hounds live in the house with the family. I hope you enjoy looking around my website and feel free to contact me regarding beagley things.
